The Market Livestock Bonus Auction is a tradition of county fairs across the nation.  It is an established reward system honoring young people for the efforts they made to grow and show quality livestock.  Through their efforts, they have learned leadership, agricultural skills, and the value of hard work.  Since no animals are actually sold in this auction the term “bonus” is used to denote a cash award given by members of our community to these hard-working kids.

The public is invited to participate in the rewarding of the Holt County 4H and FFA members.  Exhibitors will be limited to sell only one (1) market animal in the livestock bonus auction in order to cut the number of animals down to a minimum and save time.

Exhibitors must notify the 4H Office by 6:30 pm Thursday which animal he/she plans to sell in the bonus auction so that auction information sheets may be compiled for the buyers in a timely manner.  NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

The Committee representatives reserve the right to refuse late or incomplete entries.  Exhibitors are asked to bring a small “thank you” gift for buyers.  Gifts must be turned in prior to signing up for the auction.

Sale order sheet will be proved to the public attending the sale.

Animals will sell by dollar ($) amounts, not price per pound.

The only individuals in the ring during the sale will be the auctions committee members, the auctioneer, the ring members, the auctioneer, the ring persons (set by the auction committee), and the exhibitor.  All buyers will be placed on the outside of the ring for their protection.

Exhibitors will be instructed to be at the designated photo area following the conclusion of the auction.  Exhibitors will be expected to wait in photo area with their auction animal for buyer photos.  4H/FFA attire is required for photos.

All auction participants must send thank you notes to their respective buyers and present the buyer with a thank you gift at the time of the auction.

Eligible livestock for Market Bonus Auction:  Market Steers and Heifers, Market Lambs, Market Swine, Meat Goats and Second Year Bucket Calves.
